HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING

The team of professionals from the ten universities that make up RIDESA and are dedicated to the genetic breeding program for the development of RB cultivars consists of 275 professionals, distributed as follows:

275 PROFESSIONALS

  • 46 teachers

  • 46 researchers

    • 39 agronomists

    • 4 biologists

    • 1 chemist

    • 1 biotechnologist

    • 1 zootechnician

  • 57 agricultural technicians

  • 19 administrative

  • 107 operational support

HUMAN RESOURCES

130 students per year

  • 102 undergraduate students

  • 28 students from postgraduate programs (Specialization, Masters, Doctorate and Post-doctorate)

In addition to the great success in developing RB sugarcane varieties for Brazil, this network stands out in the training of human resources. The existing infrastructure within the Universities has provided support for training undergraduate and graduate students in this crop. Hundreds of professionals have graduated and are working in the private sector and in public institutions.

Internships and/or scholarships are awarded annually to approximately 100 undergraduate students in various fields of knowledge, with a strong emphasis on scientific initiation scholarships for sugarcane research. Specialists, Masters, Doctorates and Post-Doctorates are also trained annually in the post-graduate programs of RIDESA Universities (Specialization, Masters, Doctorates and Post-Doctorates) in research related to sugarcane improvement. Several scientific methodologies are proposed that have contributed to the continuous evolution of knowledge on the improvement of this crop. It is worth highlighting the program called Residency in Agronomy with Specialization in Sugarcane, which is coordinated by UFRRJ in partnership with UFPR. This program, financed by the mills associated with ALCOPAR in the State of Paraná, has trained 97 recently graduated agronomists since 2005. This training takes place within the plants themselves, under the supervision of professors from the universities coordinating the program.
